  • 1890 The company is founded in Chicago. First products were turning and drilling machines for the watch-making industry.
    Development + production of the first "chuck".
  • 1931 Fusion with Messrs. Morrison Machine Products, a manufacturer of precision collets.
  • 1938 The name Hardinge Brothers, Inc. is entered in the Commercial Register. The company had 300 employees who manufactured turning and finishing machines.
  • 50ies
     Expansion of the product range. By manufacturing innovative state-of-the-art machine tools, Hardinge Brothers Inc. managed to remain competitive in a demanding world market.
  • 1987 Foundation of Hardinge GmbH in Germany. The location is Krefeld.
  • 1995  Listing on the US stock exchange NASDAQ. Purchase of L. Kellenberger AG thus expanding the business by CNC controlled cylindrical and universal grinders.
  • 1998 Foundation of Shanghai Company Ltd.
  • 1999 Foundation of Taiwan Precision Machinery Ltd.
  • 2000 Takeover of Messrs. Hauser, Tripet und Tschudin AG to supplement the business with cylindrical and coordinate grinders.
  • 2002 Hardinge buys the licenses for the production and sale of the Bridgeport knee mills in the USA.
  • 2004 By producing Bridgeport machining centers, Hardinge completes its product portfolio. Hardinge expands its production site Shanghai. Hardinge takes over the worldwide Bridgeport IPRs and European sales and service activities.
  • 2005 Opening of the „European Center of Excellence“, a Technology Center at the Krefeld location focusing on hard turning and high-precision turning.
  • 2010 Hardinge expands the business activities and changes the name to "Hardinge Super Precision Europe". On 01.01.2010, the company moves into the new premises in Krefeld.
    On 01.04.2010, Acquired the assets of Jones & Shipman.
  • 2011 Hardinge China builds new manufacturing facility in Jianxing, China.
